Flat Grain Storage is quickly becoming
the most popular and cost-effective way to store grain. As
farms and cooperatives grow larger and markets slow or decline, our
customers are seeking a better way to store their product.
We’ve met these needs and exceeded expectations with
our new flat grain storage facilities.
Our designs offer up to 10 million bushels of very
economical corn or other grain storage. Construction
includes a
Varco Pruden® building with 12” thick exterior concrete
walls 12’ 0” high in the product storage area. The aeration
system is flush with the floor and strong enough to support
the grain pressure and larger loader weight totaling
268 H.P. and 1/7th CFM per bushel. The conveyor system
even allows the customer to dump trucks in several locations
simultaneously, and not exceed the fill conveyor design
load.
Building
Options
As an authorized dealer of Varco Pruden® Buldings,
we can help move your project from concept to completion.
We can
build
a better building at a lower cost.
Strength
Grain exerts high pressure on walls, and unless the building
is designed to withstand the pressure of grain or other
granular products, it will need to be reinforced. All
of our buildings are engineered for optimal wall strength.
Capacity
To estimate the storage capacity that you will need, calculate
the volume of the panned grain pile in cubic feet, then
multiply by 0.8 bushels per cubic foot, or divide by
1.25 cubic feet per bushel to get volume bushels. Our
buildings have capacity to hold in excess of 5 million
bushels. We will custom-design each building to the exact
specifications our clients need.
Water-Tightness
Older concrete floors do not have vapor barriers under
them and need a plastic cover in place before the building
is filled. Our buildings have an aeration system that
is flush with the floor and strong enough to support the grain
pressure and large loader weight.
Convenience & Efficiency
Our unloading systems are highly efficient in terms of
labor offering 60% product reclaim before additional
manual or equipment is needed. Additionally, unload system
can unload up to 60,000 bushels/hr.
Moisture & Aeration
Even if grain is dry when it is moved into storage, it
still needs to be aerated to maintain grain temperature
to reduce mold and insect activity. Our buildings offer
operable roof ridge ventilators totaling 200 sq. ft of
aeration relief plus four 48 diameter cross ventilation
fans with opposite end wall louvers for intake to maintain
ambient temperature above the grain and basic humidity
control.
